Why we do this?

For me this is far more than a bucket list achievement, it is a deeply personal challenge that I set for myself requiring months of dedication, discipline and perseverance. I have chosen to dedicate this extraordinary journey to autism awareness. Believing that every stroke I take through the icy Atlantic Ocean can become a stroke of hope for children and families whose lives are touched by autism.
Together with my coach Sue Young owner of Swimfast Winter Squad I am preparing for this incredible challenge. For Sue, Swimfast has always been about much more than teaching people how to swim. It is about showing every person that they are capable of more than they ever imagined. Her vision is to help people unlock their full potential through determination, resilience and courage.
Together we can make every stroke for hope count and and try to make a difference, no matter how big or small in the lives touched by autism.
Wilna Becker

As a mother of a little boy on the autism spectrum, this campaign is deeply personal to me.
I'm not doing this only for my son.
I'm doing it for every family who is searching for hope.
I'm doing it for Wilna, who has chosen to dedicate an incredible personal achievement to a cause bigger than herself.
I'm doing it for Sue, who sees potential where others see limitations.
I'm doing it for Lilla, who works tirelessly to create opportunities for children who deserve every chance to thrive.

As the owner of Green Leaves Academic Wellness Centre, everything I do is for our children. Every milestone—big or small—is worth celebrating, and every opportunity we can create helps a child grow in confidence, independence and ability. The resources on our wish list are not simply equipment; they are tools that will help our learners develop fine and gross motor skills, overcome sensory challenges, communicate, learn through play, and reach their full potential. Thank you for believing in our children and for helping us create a place where every child has the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive.
